Lesson 1 - Components of fitness overview

Lesson 1 - Components of fitness overview

Many people think of fitness as only the ability to run/jog, swim, cycle well and look very much at the cardiovascular benefits. Whilst these are obviously very important they are by no means the only factors to consider when looking at the concept of fitness and take little account of individual abilities, physical attributes and functional needs. This series of lessons will look at each individual component of fitness in more detail and demonstrate the importance of each to total fitness, i.e:

  • cardiovascular fitness
  • muscular endurance
  • muscular strength
  • flexibility
  • motor skills
A final lesson will consider the place of physical fitness within the concept of health.

All these will make you faster, stronger, leaner, more agile, less prone to injury!
